Welcome to our photographic record of Burnley

We hope that older viewers will enjoy recalling past times and younger people will be interested in seeing parts of Burnley which have disappeared.

The captions to these photographs are from our personal recollections and we trust that they are accurate, although if any viewer can offer any correction or additional information this would be welcome.

North End of Burnley

This is Curzon Street, and whilst the red brick County Court building remains, albeit out of use, all the rest has disappeared, to be replaced by Active Way.
We think this is further along Curzon Street, just past the railway overbridge, looking along Canning Street at its junction with Rectory Road, which is on the left. Whilst Rectory Road remains, most of the centre ground and area to the right is occupied by a roundabout and the entrance to the Asda Retail Park.

This again may be Rectory Road. The houses on the right were completely demolished to make way for a dual carriageway, to give quick access from the motorway into the town centre and retail parks.
